A note from Popcorn — why we are different

When building Popcorn, our starting point has been how we can shape the community we live in and how we can constantly improve it as we grow and scale. For us, our community starts with our drivers and warehouse workers who make the magic happen. That is why we made a concerted effort early on to ensure our drivers and warehouse workers are fairly W-2 employees (not independent contractors), eligible for health insurance and other benefits.
While this is not the norm for this space, we believe that the gig-economy model doesn’t fully reflect our values and the culture we are creating at Popcorn.
This is why our employees are paid a competitive hourly wage and have the security of full time, dependable employment. And since our drivers use one of the Popcorn vans in our fleet, they don’t need to worry about wear and tear on their own vehicle, car insurance or gas costs. Plus drivers keep 100% of their tips.
In order to ensure that we can continue to value and compensate our whole workforce fairly, starting May 1st we will be introducing a flat $1.95 per order delivery fee on most orders. That’s it — no hidden fees, no “service” or “locality” fees, no markups on items, and no surge pricing. We are committed to maintaining our transparency on pricing and our promise to you.
We also have some exciting plans ahead for our loyal customers who would like to continue getting their orders delivery fee-free. We can’t wait to share more on our pilot membership program very soon.
Hope to continue to grow together!
